The "hobo" shape for bags are a hot item to pick up this fall. I ventured over to the coach.com site to check out what they were offering buyers for this fall/winter. I found the "Hampton" collection particulary exilerating!

Smell like Roses this fall

With fall just around the corner, we must not neglect to honor the up and comming fragrances of some well known designers. Here are some new fall fragrances that will or have already hit the shelves of all major department stores including Sephora.

Vera Wang created a new fragrance, "Princess" for the playful, unpredictable, independent woman who treats every day like an adventure. This sheer, flirty blend of water lily, lady apple, mandarin meringue, and golden apricot skin are melded with sheer floral notes, accented with dark chocolate, and finished with a pink frosting accord, amber, warm woods, musk, and vanilla - a whimsical treat for the turn in seasons. $52-68$ at Sephora.
L'Instant by Guerlain- Young. Irreverent. Defiant. Created by Maurice Roucel, creator of L'Instant by Guerlain, this unconventional fragrance sweeps you straight into its heart: a new interpretation of violet. Exuberant notes of violet are accompanied by jubilant red berries like raspberry. A hint of orange blossom and rose impart a striking intensity, while sensual iris and tonka bean resins finish the scent, making Insolence the ultimate luxury fragrance. $43-89$ at Sephora.
Prada Tendre-
Tendre is a creation reminiscent of Prada's signature women's fragrance that translates each of the four main, iconic ingredie
nts at their true origins into a compelling, luminescent scent with hypnotic impact. $65-95$ at Sephora.

Yves Saint Laurent- Baby Doll "Duo" speaks to the woman who is naturally young at heart. She is sophisticated, yet clings to the lightheartedness of youth. A precocious beauty with a sweet, sensitive side, she's the center of attention and life of the party. Set includes a 1 oz Natural Sparkling Eau de Toilette Spray and a 1 oz Natural Eau de Toilette Spray, in a Baby Doll signature gift box.

58th annual Emmy Awards

The 2006 Emmy's were held in Los Angeles this evening. The event included a gathering of actors and actresses convening to not only recognize eachothers acting talents but also to show off designer fashion on the red carpet. Outfits and jewlery are borrowed from top designers by actresses and posted the next day on every fashion magazine and website. Ofcourse, everyone talks about the good the bad and the "What were you thinking?!" outfits. We'll hear of the 20 best and worst dressed at the Emmy's this year. FOr now, lets just look at some of my personal favorites. (Pictures from InStyle.com)
Here we have the most stunning and elegant Tyra Banks donned a fishtailed hemmed dress with a diagonal structure. The host of America's Next Top Model finished off the $50,000 gown with multi-million dollar jewlery.

StreetKa Sassy

(from Ford Press Release) Question: What do you do with 85 car parts, a wind tunnel, one model, one photographer, a charity, a car designer and one internationally-renowned dress designer?

Answer:
Grab the headlines with the latest fashion accessory to hit the Ka-twalk. Ford's designers and Bruce Oldfield have created a vision of beauty in the shape of a stunning Streetka dress.

Made from 85 parts from a special pink Ford Streetka, the dress, valued at £15,000, will be auctioned during London Fashion Week to raise money for Barnados.

The corset was formed out of pink fibreglass – the material of the Streetka's hardtop. The choker is the car's gem-like clock: the hat was made from parcel shelf material and cable-ties, and the see-through skirt from mesh used on the front grille, decorated with colourful electrical cables normally found under the Streetka's dashboard.

Bruce Oldfield, who has for many years designed outfits for celebrities and royalty alike, such as Jerry Hall, Catherine Zeta Jones and the late Diana Princess of Wales, agreed to work with Ford on this unique fundraising project. "It really was a case of two designers from two very different disciplines collaborating on the Streetka dress and coming up with something fabulous and pioneering," he explained.

"I didn't want the dress to look too mechanical," he added," even though it really is made from car parts. Although we used actual wiring as embroidery we did have to concede to a few couture bows to soften it up a bit."

"This was one of the most bizarre projects I have ever worked on," said Paul Wraith, senior designer at Ford. "We used technologies normally reserved for future Ford products to develop the bodice. Having a pink corset emerging in our workshops has certainly raised a few eyebrows around the studio.

"Who but Bruce would have imagined that cable ties, parcel shelf fabric and mesh could make such a stunning outfit,’’ he added.

The dress will feature as part of Bruce's charity fashion show at Claridges on Wednesday 22 September where his new autobiography, Rootless, will also be launched. A six-month loan of the pink Streetka will also be auctioned. Proceeds will go to Barnados.

Fashion-beat's Emberrasing Moment

Its a beautiful day in London. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and this woman is flashing hundreds of people. She is quick to take cover in in the taxi which so gracefully tore off her long flowy skirt. Moral of the story...don't wear articles of clothing that are hazardous to your ego.

Winter in August

Oh boy-what is she thinking. Perhaps the iced drink Drew Barrymore is holding in her hand has dropped her body temperature and she's decided to bring the poncho back. Summer in L.A is still hot isn't it? Try not to wear something like this unless your herding sheep in iceland.

Born with a Silver Spoon in the Mouth and a Gucci Bag on the Arm

You dread the days when you're Gucci/Channel/Dior bag carrying days are over and you will have to replace those hot designer bags with baby diaper bags from Toys R Us. Well we already know you dont have to with the over size Louis Vuitton bags ect that can be used to stash the smelly used diapers in. Now you can really style up your newborn as Gwen Stefani did back in July with the Gucci baby carrier. People were stunned when they saw this, but I ask, how is it any different from when Jessica Simpson stashed her puppy in the Louis V. dog carrying case. I'm also firm believer that if you're going to do something, do it right, and make sure to purchse a pair of baby gucci shoes for a mere 185$. Get a pair for yourself while your there too! Oh, and a purse from the 85th anniversary collection.

CHANEL FALL 2006

Chanel is one of today's best known and highly covetted fashion brands. It was founded by Coco (Gabrielle) Chanel in 1909. The luxury brand is classy in its couture, ready-to-wear, accessories, jewelry, shoes, and fragrances.
Designed to let women be comfortable while looking dignified, Chanel has been translated into classic, tailored style, especially in ready-to-wear, where the traditional tweed Chanel suit with a cardigan jacket remains one of the most popular and most copied fashion items. When they start knocking off your designer bags for 50$ at 5 am at times square, your design is officially a success. The Look- Sexy, in a smart, classy, distinguished way. Here are some shots from the Chanel fall collection.

You've come a long way baby!

Everyone, brace yourselves...but platforms are back and they're meaner than ever. The chunky shoes did make a come back a few years ago. The "clunkiness" was apparently too much for some to handle at the time so they have made a come back, yet again, but in a new refined style. Also, you'll probably see alot of fall styles including a small platform and in a patent leather design like this pump from www.aldoshoes.com site for 69$.
Ofcourse these styles have come a long way since the glitzy glam glitterness of the 70's. Lets give them another chance shall we?

Ellus-Modern Brazilian Style

Ellus is the first and main premium denim bran in Brazil-today a classic. The whole idea behind the creation of "Ellus" more than 30 years ago in Sao Paulo was that of freedom. For the generation of the the 70's when wearing jeans was like an identity. Ellus has taken this concept and created 80 styles of jeans for both men and women with 15 different washes in 5 different variations of denim fabrics. Ellus designs is jeans with the following three concepts in mind: "durability, wearability and pop-star treatment." This fall and winter collection is a mixture of "complexity, magic and young irreverence and a classic universe claim," according to the Ellus website. The focus is on the modern man and woman, romantic and independent. It is a stle that creates dialog with the rest of the fashion world yet still maintains the sassy Brazilian personal style.

Vera Vera Cool!

Yahoo News- Kohl's Departmentstores in partnership with Vera Wang announced today that they will be the newest duo in the ongoing designer-meets-department-store partnership trend with the launch of Very Vera by Vera Wang, a premium fashion and lifestyle brand for Fall 2007. This will be conceptually similar to what Isaac Mizrahi did with Target and what Martha Stewart did for Kmart.
It should be interesting to see if Kohl's is trying to change their image by offering bridal-wear including this dress (Above) for a department store bargain price of $5,690.

Functional Bag-Out of Your Way

Next time you go out partying on a Saturday night, consider this tiny but functional purse by GUESS. Dimensions are 6" X 4 " X 1.5". It has a detachable chain shoulder strap so you can wear it across the chest. I see alot of women wearing these over in Europe. They are very femine and can be worn casually with jeans or dressed up at night with a skirt. It won't get in your way when your out at the club dancing up a storm and because of its size can be kept on you at all times. The only draw back, you can't shove a million things in there. Keys, a few bucks, and maybe a cell phone.
Bag can be found online at www.guess.com fall 2006.

Daddy Long-Legs

Remember those 80's when you were jumping on your bedding belting out the songs of Cindy Lauper in your new perm hair-do, leutenant shoulder pads with sleeves rolled up to your elbows. A few years ago, many would have laughed at the thought of this scene. However, for those of you who know fashion statements almost always make a comeback, you would have expected the new or rather "old" straightleg jeans. I've seen many of these straight leg jeans in stores and mostly in magazines. So I decided to try on a pair at Armani Exchange this month (www.armaniexchange.com) I realized A. Straight Leg Jeans aren't for everyone or B. There is a certain style straight leg for everyone.
Pictured, AX "ultra-low rise fit with stretch has a long and lean straight leg for a slimming, silhouette in a clean rinse finish, clean rinse, stretch denim, 98% cotton, 2% stretch skinny fit". Featured in AX's website-Fall 2006
